Pashupati — 108 Names of Shiva

Pashupati is one of the most ancient and significant names of Shiva, with roots stretching back to the Indus Valley Civilization. In the theological framework of Shaivism, 'Pashu' refers to all living beings—not just animals, but all individual souls who are bound by the 'Pasha' (noose) of worldly existence. Shiva is the 'Pati' (Lord or Shepherd) who watches over, protects, and eventually leads these souls to liberation.
